Most freshers coming out of college often find it confused where and how to begin their job search. This blog will explain how a fresher could find a job in India.

It is easy to get your dream job if you follow the advise in this blog.

Completing graduation may seem like the finish line of a daunting task. However, it is the beginning point for a fresher to find a job. “ Well begun is half done.” Here are a few tips you would want to remember so that you can have multiple offers before you choose the best job for yourself. As a fresher the following avenues are easiest and should be explored properly.

Campus Recruitment:

If you are in the final year try not to miss on the college placement services arranged by the College or University. Most colleges have a good placement record. This is because all Alumni are properly networked and over time the alumni would be in a high ranking position in a good company. This contributes to the seasonal campus drives.  A study of the previous placement record would give an idea for the preparation. Enrol for the career assistance and development services, as this the best way to conclude on a job that suits your education.

Job Fair and Drives:

It could be possible that the campus job did not turn out to be your dream job. Sometimes graduates or freshers may have not got a job through campus recruitment. There are so many ways to get a job Off- campus. However, the first option suggested is to attend as many job fairs and drives as possible. Visit all the Indian job portals every day and read the newspaper to get knowledge about the job events. Once you have the date and venue, check if you need to register or email your resume. Make sure you are in the venue before time. Carry copies of your resume, passport size photographs, ID proof, pen and a notepad. Walk-ins, drives are suggested as you get contacts of peers and seniors in the possible industry you would like to work. The peer friends may include few candidates who may have worked for a year or more. Exchange numbers to seek possible referrals. If you have got an offer by now, I would suggest don’t stop the hunt till you have three offers to choose from.

Job Portals and Job APPS:

Naukri, Monster, Shine and TimesJOBS are some of the common Job portals in India. Visit your play store and explore the current JOB apps making sure you read the reviews. Install a few apps that should include LinkedIN and Glassdoor. Spend some quality time in making a visual and ATS compatible resume. Ensure you have a working number and your email properly listed.  Upload your picture and ATS resume and start applying for jobs. Ensure you are applying for ten to twenty suitable vacancies a day in each of the apps and portals. Keep an excel tracker of the contacts or numbers to follow up. Believe me! This tactic has helped many of my trainees get at least 2 jobs in a fortnight.

Social Media and Others: LinkedIN, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube:

This may sound like a very common avenue to explore for a job. However, the steps are important. The LinkedIN is a virtual version of a professional meet. Your linkedIN profile is your website in the resume and hence ensure all relevant information and expertise is listed. Facebook would involve following pages and the content of people who take interns and give small assignments. You may find company pages and relevant jobs.

Instagram would list current job openings, search with the keywords and set the filter to find job advertisements. Remote jobs, part time jobs, side hustles and many more are discussed on Youtube. Trial and error would help. Trust me!!! There are candidates who have found remote jobs in a day through meticulous search on YouTube.

Referrals and Company Sites:

This may not be the final option but one of the best. If you have contacts among friends and relatives; ask them to refer you for a job. Have a good visual resume to be forwarded by email or carry it with you for the interview. Referrals give a higher chance for being hired. Companies like Wipro, Cognizant. Genpact, Deloitte and many others prefer referrals.  The Apple company story is an ideal example of getting into a dream job. Apple posts current job openings on its site and there are candidates who have consistently tried to be hired.

All the very best!!
